The Lae Chamber of Commerce and Industry said it commended the committee for the decision, even though it was a disappointing one.

The LCCI said that because of the big numbers, more than 100,000 people over the show days, the increase in movement of people from and to other provinces enhanced the possibility of more coronavirus transmission.

"This is an annual highlight for Lae, Morobe and PNG. However, like many other events, plans and programs has had to be deferred due to the pandemic," the LCCI said.
