While PNG was born on September 16, 1975, Lae Biscuit predates it by three years, with the first factory established at Lae's Voco Point in 1972.
At that time, the company employed just over 100 people then relocating to Papuan compound and finally to the current K65 million standalone facility along Independence Drive in Lae City.
The Post-Courier newspaper reports that today, the new factory has more than 2000 employees serving one of PNG's largest single factory.
It is one of the largest biscuit-making factories in the Southern Hemisphere. In 2020, the company expanded into the realm of noodles, with the brand Snax noodles joining its product line-up.
Lae Biscuit Company chairman lan Chow acknowledged the many contributions that had brought the company to its current successful level.
Chow said Lae Biscuit Company would continue providing jobs to middle to high-income earners in PNG, as it had done for the past 50 years.
