The appeal was made by the deputy police commissioner Ian Vaevaso at a media conference in Honiara.

This comes as Bougainville reported 23 cases of Covid-19 at the weekend, with PNG's total rising to 1365 with 14 deaths.

NBC Bougainville News reported that health secretary, Clement Totavun said the cases followed the testing of 150 samples at the Triage Centre at Buka General Hospital.

He said the department had begun contact tracing.

A further 47 new Covid-19 cases were reported early this week with most of them in West Sepik, West New Britain, East New Britain, Central, East Sepik and in the National Capital District.
