PNG gets tougher on forex

THE Papua New Guinea government has called for tighter control on foreign exchange, with Treasurer Patrick Pruaitch urging the central bank last week to ensure companies observe the country’s recently introduced forex laws.

The stern move came after Bank of Papua New Guinea governor Loi Bakanai's monetary statement last month, in which he defended the new regulations.
