Smirk has more than two decades of experience in financial markets, joining Westpac's economics team in 1999 after training with the Reserve Bank of Australia.
His experience includes advising traders and dealers, as well as institutional, corporate and small business clients. He spent time in Westpac's London office as well as a secondment as chief economist at St George Bank.
