This was announced by Education Minister Pila Niningi who told media: "We have agreed not to increase the fees, as previously announced by the university."
Fees would remain the same as 2017, according to the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST).
This followed a meeting between DHERST and the vice chancellor of UPNG and its senior management at the end of last week.
The UPNG administration expressed confidence in Prime Minister Peter O'Neill "with utmost assurance given to the UPNG management of the government's support in the 2018 school year".
