The Friends of Lae Botanic Gardens is hosting a fund-raising dinner on March 30 at Valley View Estate Haus Win, Crossroads, 9 Mile.
The theme is ‘Black Tie and Bouquets', naturally a floral theme … and the best dressed stand to win prizes. That, along with the fun and some fund-raising.
Lae Chamber of Commerce and Industry president John Byrne explains: "LCCI is an active member of the reconstruct of the Lae Botanic Gardens through the Friends. This relationship was both re-ignited and fostered by the late great Alan McLay (former LCCI chief) and I am pleased to continue to endorse this great initiative.
"There are many, many national citizens and long-term ex-patriates who wax and wane about the once tranquil, safe, idyllic and world-class Gardens of Lae - a public space for kids and families, a place of somewhat weird botanic interest, with native birds and fauna," Byrne says.
There will be floor shows, raffles, auctions and lots of dancing, the organisers say.
The fun starts at 6.30pm and goes on until late. It costs K300 per peson or K2850 for a table of 10.
Bookings should be directed at Anna Wissink on 7100 5479 or Ruby Yamuna 7237 2014.
