Called Mobil Speedy Site, the new refuelling and service station is quicker to build and open for business while having the added advantage of being able to be relocated should road or infrastructure changes demand it moves.
ExxonMobil says the Mobil Speedy Sites will have safe and durable above-ground tanks with 400,000 litre capacities.
National Capital District Governor Powes Parkop officially opened the country's first Speedy Site at Mobil Jacksons Airport Service station at 7 Mile last week.
ExxonMobil says the Mobil Speedy Sites are also less expensive to install, costing a fifth of the price of a traditional fuel station to construct, providing more opportunities to invest funds into developing more sites across Papua New Guinean communities.
Mobil Oil PNG managing director Patrick Tang said that providing opportunities to develop micro, small to medium enterprises - particularly in rural communities, supports the government's objective to create more opportunities for Papua New Guinean businesses to develop and thrive in this country.
"We plan to partner with qualified landowners nationwide to rollout this concept and share with them how to run their own business and operate the Mobil Speedy Site safely and efficiently with benefits going back to their communities," he said.
This new concept of fuel station adds to the eight Mobil retail stations already established across the country.
ExxonMobil PNG managing director Andrew Barry said the introduction of the Mobil Speedy Site concept demonstrated the company's ongoing commitment to investment in Papua New Guinea.
"We are excited about the opportunities in PNG and we are committed to driving economic growth and producing significant, lasting benefits for the people of Papua New Guinea. This new concept has the potential to positively impact the country's growing fuel demand," he said.
A second Speedy Site, Mobil Markham Road Service Station, in Lae, Morobe Province, opened on August 15.
Mobil Oil New Guinea plans to spread the Speedy Site concept and expand to 20 locations nationwide between now and the end of 2021.
