Japan set for Fukushima Pacific discharge

JAPAN is set to win approval to discharge more than a million cubic metres of treated water from the Fukushima nuclear disaster site into the Pacific Ocean, a contentious plan that has soured ties with neighbours including China, news agency Bloomberg reports.

However, Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister James Marape does not oppose the plan, telling the country that Japanese authorities had given assurance that there would be no environmental damaged caused.
