According to the reports, PNG's chief justice said Arthur Somare, who is the minister for state enterprises will face a three-person leadership tribunal in relation to the charges of misconduct
Somare allegedly failed to submit several years' worth of financial statements and misapplied electoral funding.
Somare has fought for years against the trial in a rigorous legal battle, but it came to a close last week when a court rejected his appeal for a judicial review.
The hearings are scheduled to start next week.
