Yonki crisis over; concerns linger over weapons stash

POWER has been switched back on in PNG and the 15 hostages held by a group of around 2000 disgruntled landowners at the Yonki hydro power station in the Eastern Highlands Province have been released unharmed, following a 24-hour siege that began early Monday morning.

Leaders of the siege agreed to switch the power back on after they heard that a government delegation was on its way to Yonki to listen to their demands, according to the National newspaper.
