According to The National, Kalinoe was appointed as Papua New Guinea's ambassador to Belgium and the European Union.

Yakasa, who was arrested weeks before the election for "interfering with the political liberty of Prime Minister Peter O'Neill", was appointed as PNG's High Commissioner to the Solomon Islands.

Kalinoe resigned on April 4 ahead of the news that state-owned Petromin would be wound up with its assets to be transferred to the proposed Kumul Mining, Kumul Petroleum and Kumul Holdings state-owned entities.

An industry source confirmed to PNGIndustryNews.net in April that Kalinoe was offered a leading role with either the Kumul mining or petroleum company, but left anyway.

Kalinoe was appointed as Petromin's chief executive officer and managing director under the Somare government in March 2007.

The other big reported foreign posting went to Rupa Mulina, who was chosen to become PNG's ambassador to USA.
