This was announced by Prime Minister Peter O'Neill this week, along with notice that Apeo Fuata Sione will be reappointed as Commissioner when his current term expires at the beginning of May this year.
"I have great faith in Michael Dick's integrity, transparency and independence. In his role as acting chief ombudsman, he has had the opportunity to properly experience the magnitude of position and exercise the authority that it carries," O'Neill said.
He said that Pagen's appointment was "a significant appointment for the nation" as he had great familiarity with the role, function and authority of his new office.
