The LCCI said it had been advised by Lae MP John Rosso that the scammer was using his name and office.
"Some shady characters are purporting to collect funds for Member Rosso's election activities," LCCI president John Byrne said.
"Please advise all of your staff not to participate but to notify the police and the MPs office as soon as possible."
Rosso says businesses and individuals are not to entertain, give or engage with any individual or group claiming to be collecting money his behalf or on behalf of his office.
"As the Member for Lae Open, I do not endorse or participate or give instructions for anyone to collect money from any business or individuals on my behalf. The individuals currently doing this are not engaged or representatives of my office. They are con artists," Rosso said.
Rosso asks that if approached, the matter should be referred to the police and a representative of his office on 70704039.
