Incoming international flights banned

PAPUA New Guinea has placed a temporary, ban on all international flights into the country.

Announced by Health Minister Jelta Wong, the ban came into effect yesterday. Only passengers leaving PNG will be allowed to do so.
 
This temporary ban will be effective for seven days while officials monitor the results.
 
Meanwhile, Police Minister Bryan Kramer says the government is also considering the possibility of enforcing a ban on the sale of betelnut in public places.
 
Kramer says advice from health experts is that Covid-19 is transmissible through saliva.
