Former PNG minister Micah dies

FORMER Papua New Guinean Minister and Kavieng MP, Ben Micah died in Port Moresby on March 16. He was 62.

The Office of New Ireland Governor Sir Julius Chan did not specify the cause of Micah's death.
 
Micah was first elected to the 5th National Parliament in 1992 and joined various committees.
 
He served as Minister for Transport and more recently Minister for State Enterprises and Investments.
 
After losing in the 2017 elections, Micah took a keen interest in sport, particularly boxing. He was the patron and promoter of Oceania Fight Promotions until his passing. Micah had hinted at running again in this year's elections.
 
Micah is survived by his wife and eight children.
