Electoral Commissioner Simon Sinai says six million are for the open seats and another six million are for the regional seats. NBC News reports.

There are nearly 5.7 million listed on the latest common role updates, with 22 regional seats, 96 open seats and a further seven new electorates demarcated for the 2022 election.

Sinai oversaw the delivery of the first ballot papers to Western Province this week at Jacksons Airport in Port Moresby.

Sinai says that from next Monday, all ballot papers and other remaining election material will be sent out to all provinces.

He thanked the PNG and Australian government for the partnership in providing the ballot papers.

The distribution of ballot papers is being supervised by the PNG Police and Defence Force assisted by the Australian Defence Force.
