FORMER Prime Minister and incumbent Ialibu-Pangia MP Peter O’Neill was declared as MP Elect for Ialibu Pangia after surpassing the absolute majority of 37,501 votes in the primary count.
O'Neill thanked his supporters for the support and commitment, but added that there were incentives given to the voters of Ialibu Pangia to switch allegiance to other candidates.
He said he was grateful that his people remained strong and continued the electoral process.
He says that this is his fifth term in parliament, and he is humbled to represent his people.
O'Neill said that this election had caused deep concerns for everyone in the country, and he was at a loss to explain the magnitude of election-related problems and destruction that has occurred to lives and properties.
He has also urged everyone to remain hopeful and believe in the democratic processes, despite all that is happening all over the country.
