The Post-Courier newspaper has been advised that due to the patient privilege confidentiality at the Gold Coast University Hospital, no other report of Parkop's condition would be released.

However, it is understood that Parkop will remain under close watch as he recovers from the stomach complications.

On December 21 Parkop was rushed to the Port Moresby General Hospital emergency department with stomach complications suffered after a cardiac procedure was performed.

He was treated before he was transferred to the Port Moresby General Intensive Care Unit where he received further treatment.

But he was subsequently moved to the Pacific International Hospital where specialist surgeons and nurses treated him, after which he was medevacked to Australia on December 23.

His wife Jean and extended family joined him on the flight and upon arriving in Gold Coast, doctors stabilised him.

The family later issued a statement thanking all the hospitals and medical staff who cared for him.
