He said the number of tourists travelling into the country is declining, even though the government had not yet made a total ban on tourists travelling in and out of the country, NBC News reported.
But despite this, he said the government would continue to promote tourism in the country through the National Cultural Commission.
"The tourism industry is greatly affected not only in PNG but all around the world. But our government's position is to protect its citizens from this virus.
"The number of tourists will continue to drop due to the spread of Covid-19 around the world but we will still continue to promote tourism locally," Tamur said.
