THE National Capital District Commission has updated Port Moresby drivers on the status of roadworks as it continues upgrades in preparation for the APEC Leaders’ Meeting in November this year.

The official opening of Ela Beach takes place on September 12

• Freeway rehabilitation, funded by China Aid, is 55% complete and is expected to be done by October 31.
 
• Independence Boulevard, funded by China Aid, is 60% complete and is expected to be done by October 31.
 
• Wards Road and Frangipani-Hibiscus roundabouts, funded by SMPL, is 50% complete and is expected to be done by October 31.
 
• Ela Beach, funded through a BSP loan, is 95% complete and is expected to be done on August 15. The official opening is set for September 12.
 
• Stanley Esplanade, funded through BSP loan, is 60% complete and is expected to be done in early October.
 
• Independence Drive, funded by NCDC and GoPNG, is 50% complete and is expected to be done by October 2018.
 
• Magani Crescent, funded through a BSP loan, is now 99% complete and the official opening is set for next week.
