This was said by Air Niugini managing director Alan Milne who was responding to media reports that the company had "softened its position" following the two recent crashes of this particular aircraft.

"Air Niugini's position is that if there is any modification to the aeroplane with technical changes or even changes to operational procedures by pilots, if any of that is required as a result of investigations, obviously it will be fully incorporated," Milne told The National newspaper.

He added that the investigations into both the Lion Air and Ethiopian Airlines disasters were continuing.

Of the four Max 8 aircraft ordered by Air Niugini, the first two are expected in 2020 and the remaining ones in 2021.
