THE Lae Chamber of Commerce and Industry has warned that there will be a substantial change to the way in which water bills will be administered with effect from next year.

In its latest newsletter the LCCI said: "A separate LCCI bulletin will be sent on this but all landlords need to be aware that from January 1, 2020, the landlord of tenanted properties will be responsible for the water bill of the separate tenants.
 
"For example, if a property as six metered apartments, the property owner will effectively receive one invoice and have to pay, then on-charge the water rates to the tenant.
 
"We are unsure of the impact of this on landlords, property managers and current leasing contracts; we provide this information for your attention," the LCCI said.
