NBC News reports that because of the coronavirus outbreak, the government made a decision to close down most ports, allowing only Port Moresby, Lae and Rabaul to continue operations.

Public health executive manager Dr Daoni Esorom told the NBC Government Talkback show this week that the advisory to re-open other ports will be reviewed.

He said that this would include all vessels, whether they are commercial, private, cruise ships or loggers. The submission would advise MPs and the National Executive Committee to reopen all ports.
