The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs is a new US program supporting women entrepreneurs around the world.
The US Embassy in Port Moresby says the the Academy, in support of the White House-led Women's Global Development and Prosperity Initiative, will equip women with the practical skills needed to create sustainable businesses.
"Through an inclusive learning community, women from Papua New Guinea will be given opportunities to explore business fundamentals, including creating business plans and raising capital, with the goal of building a better future for their families and communities, the Embassy said.
The program is administered along with the PNG Women Business Resource Centre and other partners, including ExxonMobil, Coca-Cola and Pacifika Women Network.
Applications for the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs opened on May 1, and will give at least 50 Papua New Guinean business women the chance to raise their business profile. Applications will close on June 14, and successful applicants will be announced in August 2019. Email AWE-PNG@state.gov for application forms or for inquiries.
