This took place at the 29th meeting of 21 Pacific environment ministers at the Tanoa Tusitala Conference Centre in Apia. 
 
PNG's high commissioner to Fiji, Lucy Bogari, who has been chair for the last 12 months expressed her sincere gratitude to the director general of the secretariat and staff for the support accorded to her during her tenure.
 
"We have made a lot of progress … I would like to thank each and every one of you, and I look forward to working closely with the new chair."
 
Peseta Noumea Simi has been chosen as the new chair. Simi is Samoa's chief executive officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
