Base metals booming

UNITED States stocks hit a fresh high and base metals rose across on the board on optimism over trade talks this week.

News agency Bloomberg said that the US and China discussed steps to move the trade deal forward. The S&P 500 and NASDAQ rose, reaching new records.
 
Nickel gained another 0.4% to $14,938 per tonne, a fresh 10-month high.
 
Zinc was $30 off a 2020 high, while lead was about $20 off as Sumitomo suspended a zinc-lead mine in Bolivia due to cases of coronavirus.
 
Tin was roughly $24 off a seven-month high. Copper has risen in six of the past eight sessions, but hasn't quite recovered to the two-year high reached last week.
 
Gold futures were little-changed at midweek, with the metal trading between $1919 and $1936.
