Tin dropped 3.7% to$22,924.50 per tonne, the lowest point since early 2021.
 
Copper fell again, losing another 0.6% to $7845.50/t, but on balance, finished August just about where it started.
 
In New York, gold dropped to $1722.50 an ounce, the lowest price since mid-July.
 
Gold's fall in August was its fifth consecutive monthly drop, according to Bloomberg, which is the longest losing streak in four years.
 
Oil dropped below $90 a barrel.
 
US stocks fell again, with the Standard and Poor's 500 closing 0.8% lower.
