Comex gold rose to $1781.60 an ounce on Wednesday, a price not seen since mid-August. It reached an intraday high of $1791.80/oz.
 
Spot gold was trading at $1178.32/oz.
 
In London, nickel continued to surge, rising by another 4.9% to $30,178.50 per tonne, its highest level since early May.
 
After reports of a nickel plant explosion in Indonesia, which were later denied, a cutback in production at the Goro mine in North Caledonia due to a tailings dam leak was reportedly confirmed.
 
Tin was an even bigger mover, up 5.9% to $23,592/t, its best price since late August.
