RESPECTED Papua New Guinean statesman Sir Charles Lepani has retired from the board of Geopacific Resources.

Geopacific chairman Andrew Bantock thanked Lepani "for his contribution to the company
since his appointment in mid-2020, including his input into Geopacific's PNG national and regional relations. We wish Sir Charles well for the future".
 
Perth-based Geopacific is developing a gold mine on Woodlark Island in Milne Bay Province.
 
Lepani is a former public servant and diplomat. He was the country's high commissioner to Australia from 2005 to 2017 and before that had been PNG's ambassador to both the European Union and several European countries.
