St Barbara says that in collaboration with the new general manager on site, a revised mine plan has been developed which delivered more ore to the mill improving production.
All-in sustaining costs at Simberi dropped by 41% to $2416 (about K5762) per ounce as the site continues recover from the impact of the Covid-19 in February 2022.
Following the announcement of a strategic review of the mine in Milne Bay Province, front-end engineering design study work for the sulphide project was completed during the quarter.
Several parties have expressed interest to acquire Simberi and discussions with interested parties are under way.
St Barbara managing director Craig Jetson said the mine had finished the year strongly, "achieving both our production and cost guidance at a site and group level for financial year 2022".
