BCL says that Hasola, who is from Bana District in Bougainville, is a well-regarded women's leader who brings to the role more than 23 years of experience in accounting and auditing.
Most of this experience was for the Internal Revenue Commission of Papua New Guinea, but she also worked as a company assessor, tax audit manager and director of policy and advice.
BCL says Hasola has family links with the landowners from the lower tailings area of the Panguna mine and has a keen interest in Bougainville's economic development and mining policy.
BCL chairman Mel Togolo said Hasola brought to the board strong professional experience and analytical abilities in financial matters, including accounting and auditing.
"The company is delighted to welcome Maryanne to the board and given her professional
expertise combined with genuine knowledge of issues relevant to mining communities in
Bougainville, as well as her network of local connections, we are certain she will make an important contribution," he said.
Hasola has a MComm from Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia and other qualifications.
