PNGSDP fund benefits from Ok Tedi windfall

THE PNG Sustainable Development Program, which uses its 52% stake in the Ok Tedi copper-gold mine to promote sustainable development in the country's Western Province, increased its Long-Term Fund (LTF) from $US175.5 million in 2005 to $US376.6 million last year.

"The LTF has reached a level that it was once expected to have reached only at mine closure," the National newspaper quoted PNGSDP chairman Ross Garnaut as saying.
