NORWAY’S Statoil and ExxonMobil have discovered a further 2-3 trillion cubic feet of gas in offshore Tanzania, while the Norwegian oil player has also struck a cooperation deal with Rosneft over a Samara region shale oil pilot project in western Siberia.

Statoil said the success at the Mronge-1 discovery well in Block 2 offshore Tanzania, about 20km north of the Zafarani discovery, would lift Block 2's in-place volumes by 2-3Tcf to 17-20Tcf.
