Nickel to face an uphill battle in 2014 and beyond

THE nickel industry has had a tough time of it in 2013 – and at current prices analysts believe as much as 50% of the global supply is operating at a loss.

From highs touching over $US17,400 a tonne in February, the spot price now hovers around $13,600/t, a drop of more than 20% in 12 months.
