THE US Embassy in Port Moresby has said that applications were now open for candidates from Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu to attend the 2016 LGBTI Pacific Youth Forum.

The forum will take place in Sydney on October 13 and 14 for delegates under the age of 32.

The US Embassy said the forum would bring together lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender diverse, and intersex youth leaders, advocates, and allies from Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands to engage in workshops and training sessions with experts in the field of advancing LGBTI rights in the region.

Participants to the forum will also have the chance to apply for one of three $A5000 grants to carry out LGBTI human rights projects in the South Pacific after the completion of the forum.

"Successful candidates are ensured round trip travel to Sydney, accommodation for 3 nights, per diem, visa costs, and travel insurance," the US Embassy said.

To apply, candidates must be 32 years of age or younger and should submit their applications directly to the forum coordinator Jaz Dawson at jasmine@kaleidoscopeaustralia.com Applications close on August 29.
