The boats are expected to be delivered to Timor-Leste in the second half of 2023.

This donation was sealed when Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Prime Minister Mari Alkatiri met in November last year and the purpose of the donation is to enhance Timor-Leste's capability to patrol its maritime borders and protect its natural resources.

Austal is building the vessels under Australia's $300 million Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement Project.

They will be delivered to 13 nations from late 2018 as part of Australia's $2 billion commitment to regional maritime security through the Pacific Maritime Security Program.
