The week-long journey for the island queens begins today and runs until to December 1.
Organisers say the pageant program includes excursions to the surrounding attractions in Port Moresby, including Loloata Island. There will be a float parade in downtown Port Moresby, culminating in the crowning ball where "contestants bring their best to the stage to determine who will be crowned the new 2019 Miss Pacific Islands".
The crown will be handed over by the current reigning Miss Pacific Islands, Papua New Guinea's Leoshina Kariha. This takes place after the contestants compete in sarong wear, traditional and contemporary inspired talent and an onstage interview.
The participants are:
Miss Samoa - Fonoifafo Nancy McFarland-Seumanu
