The airline says that following completion of painting and the installation of seating in Townsville, the aircraft was ready to leave the Flying Colours Aviation aircraft hangar and ferry empty to Brisbane Airport.
Its first commercial flight for Solomon Airlines, as Flight 1E715, departed from Brisbane International Airport.
The aircraft flew from Brisbane direct to Munda in the Solomon Islands Western Province, and then on to Honiara.
The new aircraft offers two classes on board comprising 12 business class seats in a 2 x 2 configuration and 132 economy class seats in a 3 x 3 layout. It replaces Solomon Airlines previous A320, which entered service with the carrier in 2012.
