McKenzie has more than 30 years experience in major exploration projects and business development in Canada and internationally.
He is president and chief executive officer of Cornerstone Resources and previously served as vice-president exploration for Skye Resources.
Prior to that, he was in charge of exploration in Latin America for Inco Ltd and was vice-president exploration for Voisey Bay Nickel from 1996 to 2000.
"We welcome Colin to the board. Colin will add substantial strength to our exploration and development team and is the latest of several changes to the board this year," NGG chairman Bob McNeil said.
"The changes to date, plus possible future changes, should place NGG in a strong position to advance as exploration and development continues on NGG projects and increases momentum on our joint venture and associate company projects."
