The funds will also help develop a school education program and provide more signage and information on the animals in the park.
"Support from the PNG LNG project will include a formal school excursion to the park that is aligned with the learning outcomes of the PNG education curriculum," Port Moresby Nature Park general manager Michelle McGeorge said.
Esso Highlands managing director Peter Graham recently visited the park.
"Education is critical to the development of a nation and in this case critical to the preservation of Papua New Guinea's magnificent environment," he said.
"The school education program will provide an engaging experience for students to understand the cultural significance of flora and fauna and the role of conservation and to motivate positive behaviours and respect for Papua New Guinea's biodiversity."
The park was formerly known as the National Capital Botanical Gardens.
