Eaglewood prepares for another well

EAGLEWOOD Energy has launched a 2D seismic program over petroleum prospecting licence 259, which neighbours the Horizon Oil-led Stanley field licence in Papua New Guinea’s Western province, with the view of spudding a well next year.

Eaglewood said a 63-line kilometre shoot would start over the western portion of PPL 259, which is east of the Stanley field, to focus on the Nama, Malisa and Ekelesia leads identified by a previous seismic study.

A second phase of the seismic under this program will follow up key results from the first phase, which is expected to take three months.

Eaglewood expected all results to be in by April and said the joint venture was scheduled to begin commitment drilling next year.

Eaglewood owns 65% of the licence, while Horizon owns 25%.
