Blast kills mine trespassers

A ROUTINE underground blast at Barrick Gold’s giant Porgera mine in Papua New Guinea on Saturday morning has killed at least five local trespassers – who are believed to have been scavenging mine workings to find gold.

The scheduled blast at the underground operation of the mine took place at 5.45am on Saturday.
