An emerging copper play in PNG

MIL Resources plans to rapidly mobilise a drilling rig after recent field exploration “confirmed” a big 1000m by 300m copper-based surface geochemical anomaly at its Atui project located near the centre of New Britain, Papua New Guinea.

MIL says the copper porphyry system lies entirely within its exploration licence 1642 - which has had "no previous drilling."

According to the explorer, three copper soil anomalies, with grades above 150 parts per million, have been discovered, including one anomaly which had 400-plus ppm, while gold and silver soil anomalies were found peripheral to the copper anomalies.

"MIL has contracted Quest Exploration Drilling to conduct a diamond drill program at Atui and QED will inform MIL the schedule for rig mobilisation next week," the explorer announced.

The recent field program resampled and re-tested the work carried out by CRA back in 1986.
