Ok Tedi's near-coast target

OK TEDI Mining Limited has started a 1003sq.km aeromagnetic and radiometric geophysical survey over the Gazelle Peninsula of New Britain Island in northeast Papua New Guinea as part of its joint venture with Frontier Resources.

The project is referred to as the East New Britain JV and the survey over exploration licence 1592 is budgeted to cost at least $US600,000.

Frontier said the interpretation of the survey data should be available in about three months.

Like most of the other four Frontier tenements subject to the 2010 JV with OTML, EL 1592 is prospective for porphyry copper and gold.

The undrilled coastal Doilene prospect in this licence has a previous trench result of 10.9m at 26.9 grams per tonne gold.
