With the assay results based on a nickel cut-off grade of 0.4%, the hit started from a depth of just 2.8m and included a 1.2m interval which graded 5.71% nickel and 1.03gpt PGM.
While that result from the third hole was a standout, the recent assay results from the fourth hole had a best intersection of 3m grading 1.16% nickel and 1.12gpt PGM which started from a depth of just 6m.
The style of nickel, platinum and palladium mineralisation encountered at the prospect is considered geologically unique in PNG and has been subject to CSIRO investigation.
Other project prospects to the northeast are expected to host similar deposits.
