"We interview, test and select the trainees based on their attitude, enthusiasm and work performance," welding foreman and instructor Abdullah Shahin said.

"During the three-week program, participants attend full-time training and learn, through sequential phases, various welding techniques."

PNG LNG plant site senior project manager Yow-Yeen Lee also hinted at the kind of workers who gained selection for targeted training.

"When we see dedicated workers who put the time and effort in to learn, we make every effort possible to motivate and direct them on the path to continued success," he said.
