Kina recruits PNG industry veteran

KINA Petroleum has recruited Papua New Guinean industry veteran Richard Robinson to the company’s board.

Robinson has 35 years of industry experience including 25 in PNG and has been appointed non-executive director.

Kina said Robinson's experience encompassed the management of both project developments and upstream operations with a variety of contractors and operators such as ExxonMobil, BP and Oil Search.

Robinson retired from Oil Search in early 2013 after more than 10 years, the last three as operations executive general manager, where he was responsible for the company's PNG production and associated drilling operations.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome Richard to the board of Kina," Kina non-executive chairman John Prendiville said.

"Richard has significant experience in the management of upstream operations and, importantly for Kina, in project development in PNG.

"This will become increasingly relevant to Kina as it progresses through the planning and ultimate development of PRL21 over the course of 2014 and beyond.

"Richard's appointment is another milestone for Kina in its goal of assembling a high quality team to exploit the sizeable asset base now held by the company."
