The National Capital District Commission has begun a campaign to place yellow notices on vehicles which are not parked where they should be, signed by city manager Leslie Alu.
The notice states: "Your registration details have been recorded in our CCTV. Parking on CBD newly paved footpaths, traffic islands, or double parking, or driving on the wrong side of the road to park is dangerous to other motorists and compromises the safety of our pedestrians.
"This amply demonstrates your thoughtlessness for others and disregard for the law. You are hereby formally warned by the NCDC that if you persist with this flagrant disregard for the safety of others, your vehicle may be towed away in your absence and without notice, impounded and you will be fined accordingly.
"Look after our city, think of others' safety as well as your own and enjoy a safer, more secure business district in which to work and do your business.
"Please park your vehicle safely and correctly in the parking bays as marked."
