Timor-Leste Foreign Minister Babo Soares hosted Australian counterpart Julie Bishop on a three-day visit to Dili, which ended yesterday.
Bishop also met President Francisco Guterres, Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak and Opposition leader Mari Alkatiri on visits to projects being supported by Australian aid.
Soares and Bishop welcomed the signing of the treaty between Australia and Timor-Leste which established maritime boundaries in the Timor Sea in New York, on March 6 this year.
"The Ministers committed to prioritising the ratification of the Maritime Boundary Treaty upon conclusion of the transitional arrangements and their respective domestic treaty processes," a joint statement said.
The countries also agreed to work together on a new package of jobs and growth initiatives and reaffirmed their commitment to regional security and the protection of their shared maritime domain.
